I meet tons of people all the time and hear so many of them are unhappy with their bodies. I read statistics about how many people are overweight, and see people making really bad food choices, and learn of people letting their bad self-image ruin their relationships. It gets me so fired up! This has got to stop! Being unhappy has to stop!
You can do whatever you want with your body but when it starts to affect your relationship, especially if you have a spouse, kids, fiance, or whatever, you’ve got to step it up and do something. I know from personal experience how quickly it can get worse if you don’t do something to fix it. You might wonder how something like body image can affect a relationship. Aren’t you still the same two people who fell in love in the first place? How can something so personal and internal affect your relationship that much?
I’ll tell you how. When your self-confidence is zero, do you want to be intimate with someone? Do you think someone wants to be intimate with you when you hate your body so much? When you feel bad about yourself, you’re probably pretty negative, right? Would you want to be around someone who is pessimistic all the time? Probably not.
If you ask ten people if they are happy in their life and their relationships, you might be surprised at their answers. The majority of our population is not happy. They are not comfortable with their body. They are not comfortable in their relationships. They just accept that way of life as the norm and coast through their life unhappy.
You might be shocked to learn that working out is not at the top of my list. Put that mindset away. If you truly want to change your life and finally be happy with yourself, you have to start with your mindset.
So many people want to start with their physical bodies. They want to shrink their love handles, get six-pack abs, or fix their flabby arms. Forget that! You will still be unhappy the day you finally get your six-pack or hit your goal weight if your mindset is trash. The most important work happens between your ears.
When you change your mind, the rest of your body follows. If your mind is right, you start feeling the urge to take better care of your body. You want to make better food choices, work out more, be better in your relationships. It’s like a domino effect once you get your mindset in a healthy place.
Do you want to understand why you feel the way you do? You want to learn how to change your mindset so you can love your body? Perfect! I guarantee you, someone out there has been through what you’re going through and they have either written a book or made a podcast about it. You are not a victim. Whatever problem you have, someone else has had and you can learn from them.
Just like fitness, you can’t do it once and expect it to stick forever. You wouldn’t work hard to get a six-pack and then expect it to last until you’re eighty without any more work, right? The same goes for your mental health. You can’t just read one book and think you’re going to be happy forever. It takes a lifetime of personal development and a conscious effort to keep your mindset healthy.
We’re all gonna end up in the same place, right? Death is the endpoint for everybody. We only get one life and our job is to live it to the fullest. We can’t do that if we’re stuck in our heads. Don’t let a year go by stuck in a bad mindset. That’s a year of your life you just wasted!
Take this seriously. Get started now on your journey to a happier you!
